LABOR DAY

As we all enjoy our day off in observance of Labor Day, lets all stop and remember why Labor Day is such an important day on our calendar. Given time has moved on, decades have come and gone, and life events have changed drastically; once upon a time, Labor Day was a movement that was celebrated and observed by those whom fought for it.

WORKING CONDITIONS PRIOR TO LABOR DAY- 

    "In the late 1800s, at the height of the Industrial Revolution in the United States, the average American worked 12-hour days and seven-day weeks in order to eke out a basic living. Despite restrictions in some states, children as young as 5 or 6 toiled in mills, factories and mines across the country, earning a fraction of their adult counterparts’ wages. People of all ages, particularly the very poor and recent immigrants, often faced extremely unsafe working conditions, with insufficient access to fresh air, sanitary facilities and breaks".

Neighborhoods throughout our city are being invited to come together for our 33rd Annual National Night Out. This year National Night Out in Texas will be observed on Tuesday, October 4th 2016.
We are overjoyed with the fact that The City of Arlington ranked 3rd among the largest cities in the country for participation in National Night Out! This year, we are hoping to get even more neighborhood groups involved!

It is about that time to begin planning and discussing this year’s festivities. Residents throughout Arlington are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outdoors with neighbors and city officials on this fun filled evening. The evening usually consists of a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, live bands, youth activities and much more!

The Main Pool will be reopen today, Friday, Aug 12th at 5:00 pm. Yeah!!

MAIN POOL CLOSED

OUR MAIN POOL IS CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE UNTIL AT LEAST FRIDAY.  IT IS BEING DRAINED AND POWER WASHED TO KILL AN ALGAE WHICH IS ATTACKING MANY POOLS IN ARLINGTON THIS SUMMER, PER THE SPECIALIST FROM LESLIE'S POOL COMPANY.  THE SMALL POOL IS STILL OPEN.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

GOOD DAY, RESIDENTS, 

    MAIN POOL WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS FOR CHEMICAL SHOCKING. WE WILL SHUT DOWN THE POOL AT 4PM TODAY AND REOPEN IT TOMORROW AFTER 4PM. THE SMALL POOL WILL REMAIN OPEN.
